Course Description
Anatomy is the study of the structure of organisms as well as looking at the different shapes, positions and sizes of tissues. Vet nurses need anatomy and physiology to comprehend how to take good care of an animal. The body must remain in a balanced condition to operate. When the pets body does not maintain balance, veterinary staff must figure out how to recover the pets body to stabilise. Vet Nurses must be able to think and act quickly when a pet needs proper care.
When the conditions of an animal change, vet staff must know what the underlying cause of their situation is, and they must be able to help these pets recover their wellness. In other words, vet nurses need an understanding of anatomy and physiology to comprehend how an animals body performs when it is in perfect health so that when the animal get sick, they will understand why.
Physiology is the science of life. It is the branch of biology that aims to understand the mechanisms of living things, from the basis of cell function at the ionic and molecular level to the integrated behaviour of the whole body and the influence of the external environment. Research in physiology helps us to understand how the body works in health and how it responds and adapts to the challenges of everyday life; it also helps us to determine what goes wrong in disease, facilitating the development of new treatments and guidelines for maintaining animal health. The emphasis on integrating molecular, cellular, systems and whole body function is what distinguishes physiology from the other life sciences.

"I like the whole set up of this course and especially the assessments at the end when you have to diagnose the problem yourself with research - I have never come across this in other courses and it's very useful for picturing - using the information you learn in real life." - Heather
